A Visual Pilgrimage
More than an emblem, the St. Bernadette Catholic Church logo tells the story of a journey of faith: From the waters of life, through the intercession of St. Bernadette, into the Church, and ultimately to Christ.
The Story Within Our Logo
The St. Bernadette Catholic Church identity brings together our patroness, distinctive architecture, geographical setting, and sacramental mission.
The eye begins in the waters of Bayou Vista, follows the central processional path, encounters St. Bernadette in prayer, enters the Church, and finally culminates at the Cross.
In one continuous movement, the mark quietly expresses our parish mission: Glorifying God, Saving Souls.
-
The journey begins in water, the unifying thread of our parish identity.
The flowing bands recall the waterways of Bayou Vista, the miraculous spring at Lourdes revealed through St. Bernadette, the blue mosaic within our sanctuary, and the saving waters of Baptism.
The central navy waterway forms a processional path leading toward St. Bernadette, through the Church, and upward to the Cross. It represents the lifelong pilgrimage of faith that begins in Baptism and leads us to Christ.
-
Our patroness stands in prayer at the heart of the composition, welcoming all who approach the Church.
Holding her rosary, St. Bernadette serves as a spiritual bridge between the parish community and Christ. Her arched niche recalls both the grotto at Lourdes and the statue that stands on the church’s front lawn.
-
The mark is rooted in the distinctive architecture of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Its broad pyramidal roof, soaring spire, colonnade, and central shrine are interpreted in a simplified geometric form.
The silhouette also recalls the grotto at Lourdes and the basin of a baptismal font. Together, these architectural and sacramental elements create a unique mark that belongs specifically to St. Bernadette and reflects the church’s central place within the Bayou Vista neighborhood.
-
The pilgrimage culminates at the Cross—the highest point and ultimate destination of the mark.
The church’s distinctive spire draws the eye upward as every major line in the composition converges toward Christ. This movement expresses the purpose of our parish: to glorify God and lead souls toward salvation.
